Where is the best place to start a cruise in Croatia?

I sometimes answer the question "Where is the best place to start a cruise in Croatia?". While the first thought that comes to my mind is that "all of Croatia is beautiful", when I checked the list of my reservations, it turns out that I most often chose the area around Šibenik, especially marina Mandalina. When I think about it now, I come to the conclusion that this area meets all my criteria for a successful cruise.

Convenient location:

When chartering a yacht from the Šibenik area, you have a wide range of options for planning your cruise. Depending on where the wind is blowing from, you can sail south towards Hvar, Korcula or Brac, or north towards Kornati National Park. Moreover, I always try to plan the route so that it includes Skradin and the Krka waterfalls. When chartering a yacht from the marina of Mandalina, nearby Zaton or Skradin itself, you can do it at the beginning or end of the cruise. Swimming between the rocks of the Šibenik Channel and further towards the waterfalls will certainly diversify the entire cruise

In addition, Šibenik is a very charming city, located a few minutes by car from the Mandalina marina, and you can leave your car in the underground parking lot near the old town (see on map). By the way, you can also get from Mandalina to Šibenik by water taxi An evening walk around the Old Town, getting lost in its narrow streets and fortresses with breathtaking views will certainly remain in the memory of the entire crew for a long time.

Shopping and provisions.

Apart from typical experiences, organisational issues, i.e. shopping, cannot be left in silence. Near the Mandalina marina, there are discount stores (e.g. Kaufland) and a shopping mall (Dalmara), where you can stock up on everything you need. Even if someone forgets sunglasses, swimming trunks or flip-flops, you can buy them nearby.

Of course, the above makes the most sense when we go on holiday by car, which is what the vast majority of European sailors do. However, if we plan to arrive in Croatia by plane, it is worth considering chartering a yacht near Zadar or Split and Trogir, at the expense of the fact that the wind direction will have to be taken into account😊 Although, on the other hand, chartering a yacht in Šibenik with a transfer from one of the airports is also not a very big problem🙂

With sailing greetings
