<\/p>\n

Savudrija<\/h2>\n

\"sauv\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The oldest and the northernmost lighthouse in Croatia. It was built by Prince Metternich for a beautiful croatian aristocrat whom he had met on a ball in Vienna. Unfortunately, the prince died on the day the lighthouse was built and he never spent romantic moments with his beloved one in Savudrija.<\/p>\n

Sveti Andrija<\/h2>\n

\"Sveti<\/a><\/p>\n

There is a sad legend related to the lighthouse about a vengeance of a young man in love that turned the light on in a fog to misguide the girl that turned him down and sailed to another lover. Guided by the light, the girl lost her wat and drowned in a foggy night of St. Andrew. Her lover joined a monastery.<\/p>\n

Palagru\u017ea<\/h2>\n

\"palagruza\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A Croatian lighthouse located closer to Italy (only 42 km) than to Croatia. Even the Pope Alexander III visited island Palagru\u017ea. This is really far away from civilisation. There are not many plants and animals living on this lonely piece of land.<\/p>\n

Susac<\/h2>\n

\"Susac\"<\/a><\/p>\n

It was built in the 19th century on the peak of a lonely island over a 100-metre cliff. There is a lake near the lighthouse connected to the surrounding sea by a 15-metre deep siphon. Only the lighthouse keeper and a bunch of sheep live there. You can rent an apartment in the lighthouse itself.<\/p>\n

Porer<\/h2>\n

\"porer\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Located on a tiny island near the Istria peninsula, is famous from the most beautiful sunsets in entire Croatia and dangerous currents and strong winds. The waters around the island contain boat and ship wrecks.<\/p>\n

Veli Rat<\/h2>\n

\"Veli<\/a><\/p>\n

Still operated by a man, a 41-metre high lighthouse visible from a distance of 22 NM (approx. 40 km). The specific yellow colour of walls is due to a mixture made of thousands of hen eggs which task is to protect the lighthouse from the destructive activity of salt water. In 2010, the image of the lighthouse was placed on postage stamps of the Croatian post.<\/p>\n

Tajer<\/h2>\n

\"Tajer\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Watches the entrance to the famous Kornati National Park. Painted with a specific white and red coil, it is the only Croatian lighthouse built of steel. It is connected by a 200-metre corridor to a stone building where you can rent a room. The view of the archipelago of Kornati from the lighthouse is breathtaking.<\/p>\n

Pri\u0161njak<\/h2>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

Situated near the connected to the land popular island Murter, looks like a tortoise shell. It is inhabited by many wild rabbits. The waters around the island are exceptionally warm. You can swim here even in November.<\/p>\n

Struga<\/h2>\n

\"Struga\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The lighthouse of records: it was here that a record 18 kg lobster was caught and a 45 kg coral was fished out. Beautiful lighthouse situated on island\u00a0 Lastovo, on a 70-metre cliff. Who knows what is more in these waters?<\/p>\n

Sveti Ivan<\/h2>\n

\"Sveti<\/a><\/p>\n

The legend says that a Venetian doge, miraculously saved from a storm on the St. John’s day, was sailing here and he hide himself on the island, and lighted a candle to give thanks. Unfortunately, when he sailed here again heading to Makarska he forgot about that happening and his vessel crashed again here.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
